I love this thing! It really works and for the first time I feel compelled to write a review. Here's my story. My two small boys and I are skiing every weekend this season. They're part of a ski team so we're on the mountain all day both Saturdays and Sundays, including Saturday nights for night skiing. Cold feet or hands caused by wet boots or gloves puts a quick end to a anyone's day on the slopes. We don't own a cabin, instead we stay in various motels, all without a fireplace or floor heater. Between us, we have 3 pairs of ski boots and gloves. Prior to owning this drying unit, I would each night pull out the boot's liner from each boot's shell, hoping that all our boots and gloves would dry before the next morning. The result was mixed. In addition to skiing, the boys have now started snow boarding. That's a lot of boots and a lot of wet gloves. I needed help.

I was planning on making my own drying contraption with PVC pipe components and a hair dryer when I researched DRYGUY's WIDE-BODY BOOT AND GLOVE DRYER. I thought I'd take a chance on it and spend the money. Boy, am I glad I did. It's simple and safe. The design is convenient and compact, and the packing box it came in is well made, enough so that I keep it in it to transport it back and forth from home, to motel, and back. Our stuff dries in about an hour to 90 minutes per timed drying session. I start up two pairs of boots as soon as we get to the motel so that I have enough time to start the second patch before heading to bed, letting it run out on its timer. It makes little noise, a lot less than any hair dryer I would have found, so we can sleep with it in the same room. In the morning, I throw the last two pairs of gloves on, and we're ready to meet our 8 a.m. mountain time with dry boots and gloves.

Though the pictures and instruction indicate I don't have to, I still remove the boot liners from the shells because I think (I have NOT tested otherwise) my boots will dry faster and more thoroughly this way. If I have more time, I dry the boys' snow boots. A couple of tricks I've learned: 1) the snow boots take more time to dry than the ski boots. To help insure a quick dry, I place the snow boots with toe area pointing higher than the heel so the heat can rise into the toe area. And 2) I place gloves (and sometimes socks) below the boot opening so that the warm air venting from below the boot can circulate down over the items, helping me warm them up sooner. One final story: My youngest son stepped into a stream and submerged his boot completely. I wrung as much excess water from his boot and sock as I could, placed them on the dryer, and set the dryer's timer to the longest setting. The next morning the boot and sock were dry.

I've used this thing over a dozen times so far, and I can't imagine not having it, so much that it's transitioned from nicety to a necessity. If you elect to get one, I hope you're as happy as I am..

I've spent a lot of money on really good work boots. Every day after work I wold bring them home hand put them near the wood stove to dry them out. That is really hard on leather boots.

I bought the DryGy boot warmer and it drys my boots without damaging the leather. It blows dry, body temperature air into the boots for up to 3 hours depending on how you set the timer. My boots are 9" leathers so my only mistake was in buying this one instead of the taller one. It just means that I have to prop the toes up on something to keep them fully upright. This is not a problem of the unit, just a function of me misordering.

A warning for usage, though. Make sure that the boots go on the machine with the toes pointing to the sides, not front to back. The air is directed out to the sides so it won't reach the toes if you orient the boots front to back.

Its a good product and I would have no hesitation recommending it.

As parents of young children who have battled wet gloves and boots for years, desperately trying to dry them for the next day, we bought this product based on the reviews here.

Simply put, it is outstanding. Expensive? Probably. But this dryer is incredibly effective at QUIETLY and QUICKLY drying both gloves and boots.

Our only complaint? We didn't know about it three years ago.

My husband loves this boot dryer that I purchased as a gift for him. We have had a brutal winter in our part of the country and when he comes home from work the boots go on the dryer and are great to put on the next morning. After two months of hard use it seems to be well built and works great.

I have two kids 5 & 7 in New England. After we had our January thaw I knew I needed to do something. Both my kids have two pairs of snow boots that are "mostly" water proof, except when it comes to total submersion in puddles. After a few days of thaw both sets of boots were wet. And since they are mostly water proof I couldn't dry them out overnight, and that was even after letting them sit on the radiator. The next step was to break out a hair dryer and that sort of worked except my Sons boots really stunk. Pewwww... And that still didn't do it because I wasn't willing to put in the hour or so that I would have needed. My experience with water proof gloves and the dryer told me that wouldn't work either because the outside dries, but the fingers remain wet.

I looked at local sporting good stores and they had a few different kinds of boot dryers. One for campers that uses propane and another convection one. Overall junk.

I finally decided on the DryGuy because it had good reviews. The one I ordered from Amazon was the standard body - though I was looking for the wide body, but to my pleasant surprise the wide body - your millage may very.

Once I unpacked it I was surprised that it was so small. It looked about two times larger in the picture my mind had painted. I set it up and put it on top of the dryer next to the washing machine so it would be out of the way and have a close power cord. Then I waited for another thaw as my wife made fun of me for spending so much.

The thaw came except this time we never ran out of boots. I never had two wet at any one time. My son came in with boots that were literally dripping wet from the inside. A little over two hours later for excessively wet boots and they were dry again. This thing rocks!!! One morning before school I noticed that no one had dried the boots. I stuck them on the DryGuy and went about getting everyone ready. Right before school toasty dry boots. By the way, the stink is gone as well. I'm sure that was from never getting them dry enough or taking too long to dry them in the past.

My wife has also been convinced. She was skeptical, but has been very impressed. Two things have changed for us with the DryGuy.

1. We don't keep a drying rack anymore for gloves and mittens. Stick one pair of wet gloves on with a pair of boots. It works excellent on gloves.

2. We will only need to buy one pair of better quality boots next season, since we had to buy two just to have a spare. We will eventually pay for the DryGuy in boot and glove savings. Ditto with not needing three pairs of gloves.

I have not used other boot dryers, but I'm sure this is the Cadillac of boot dryers after using it. It has literally just become and appliance for us. Meaning we don't think about it or question how well it works. It simply works.

We use the DryGuy Boot Dryer nearly every day. Although it is a little spendy it works great for drying boots, shoes, gloves and other things. It would be even better if it was a little heavier so that it wouldn't require careful balancing of heavy boots to prevent it from toppling over and if it had air vents further down on the drying posts for more thorough drying of items open at the top (like knee braces). And while most items dried just fine in three hours using the heat setting, it would be nice if it had an "on" setting for things needing a longer drying time (such as when drying thick items without heat).

We took two of these on a ten day skiing trip. They worked great at drying our gloves and boots each night. We also used them in the mornings to warm the boots. It took about two hours to completely dry the gloves or boots using the heat option. Never got too hot that we worried about damage. Wasn't super whisper quiet, but also wasn't any noisier that I'd expect. We had seven people in a small room and they never caused problems with conversation or the TV. Being able to dry the boots kept the liners from packing in, which is often a problem on long trips. Well worth the money to put my feet in warm, dry boots each morning instead of cold, wet boots.

I bought two of these Dry Guy Boot Dryers and have been very happy with their performance. I play a lot of sports, and in the summer especially my shoes become drenched with sweat. Without a dryer it would take several days for my shoes to dry completely, and as a result I was always playing in wet stinky shoes -- even though I was rotating 3 or 4 pairs (I play a lot!). Now after I get off the court I stick them on the Boot Dryer and after 3 - 6 hours they are usually totally dry, and ready for my next game. I can't imagine how I got by without a dryer before. I do have a few suggestions for changes that would make this a 5 star product. First, the timer has a max setting of around 3 hours. For damp shoes this is okay, but for soaked shoes, like mine usually get, 3 hours is not enough time, so I find myself having to reset the timer to get them completely dry. It is a bit of a hassle, especially at night when I am not awake to reset the timer. A simple on/off switch would be a great help. Or a moisture sensor of some kind. My second suggestion would be to make the unit a little bit bigger. I have size 13 shoes and it is hard to get two pairs onto the dryer in such a way that the heel part of the shoe is dried quickly. Otherwise, this is a great product and I usually have two of them going on any given day. I would certainly recommend it!..........

I've used the DryGuy for about a month to dry my surfing booties that always seemed to smell like week old road kill. I first tried a shoe dryer that does not have a fan but works by convection and that seemed to create the perfect environment for stinky bacteria. So far, DryGuy has worked great - though I can't find my booties by smell any more. One caveat though, the heater is not so strong that it will dry your booties quickly in a cold garage so it is much more effective if used indoors.

My husband and son took this DryGuy on a recent snowboarding trip, and both came home raving about it. Great for wet gloves OR for snowboarding boots. That's why I chose this model, in fact. Some dryers can only be used on boots. We wanted something that could dry both.

My only recommendation is that if you need it for more than 4 or 5 people, you probably want to get the DryGuy model that can dry more equipment at the same time to avoid switching them out constantly.
